9-9-2007: Launch!

The Prajnya Trust launched Prajnya Initiatives for Peace, Justice and Security on September 9, 2007.

“Come again?” Sure! This is how we are structured. The deed founded the Trust, the legal umbrella for a variety of Initiatives. So these were launched in September 2007, and we officially started work! You can see how Prajnya is structured here.

Four of the five Trustees met to pass the launch resolution:Shilpa, Sudha, Jaya and Swarna.

The day began with a little prayer. After all, we were five people starting with just a dream and whatever professional experience we had gained. No seed capital. No bigshot backers. We have needed all the help we could get, human and divine.

Then the Trustees who were present voted to pass the launch resolution. They were joined after that by the first two people to join the Prajnya Team, Uma Vangal and Jayalakshmi Gopalan, and the person who has been administrator since the very beginning, Subhashini Selvanathan. The Trustees’ meeting was followed by much brainstorming and list-making. And lunch.

This is the happy “group photo” of this momentous event!
